Another snow day!

Hello, another snow day:) Today, though, to be honest, I think we should have had a half day and closed early... it was supposed to dump snow overnight, but it didn't start until around noon. But I won't complain about getting to sleep in. Seth got to come home early cuz Allstate closed at 11:30, so that's kinda nice.

Thought I'd blog about a few things today... first an update on the quitting smoking. It's going pretty well, honestly. It's been 3 1/2 weeks and according to my "quitnet.com" stats I've saved $112.50 and added 2 days and 7 hours to my life. Pretty amazing. Of course I've had cravings but they've really become fewer and less intense. A big challenge was going to showtunes on Monday cuz it was the first time I'd been in a bar since I quit. It was a big help that smoking is illegal in bars now, but I was still nervous about it. Really, I was fine, though. A few times I wanted one but it passed quickly. I also noticed that I could sing better.

I also wanted to blog about Showtunes. Most people reading this blog know I love showtunes. I love singing showtunes, listening to showtunes, etc. And most people also know that every Monday (and Sunday and Friday, but we never go to those) a gay bar called Sidetracks has showtunes. They show videos (clips from movies, the Tony awards, etc.) of showtunes. I love it. It's pretty much one of my favorite things. Jen and I are trying to get into the habit of going once a month, at least. Everyone sings along, a lot of people dance --- it's just SO much fun. On Monday it was especially fun... lots of singing, we ran into some friends, made some new friends. It just makes me so happy (some guy told us he wanted to put us in a bottle so he could keep us in his pocket and uncork us when he needed to know something about showtunes:) It's the closest thing I can get right now to do any sort of theatre performance, I guess that's why I love it so much.

The other thing in the performance vein that's I've been enjoying lately is my tap class. For those of you who don't know, I've been taking tap on and off since I've been about 4 years old and I love it. I recently got back into taking class regularly and I've been enjoying it so much. It's an awesome work-out and just so much fun, especially cuz I'm pretty good (right now I'm in level 3 out of 4 and 4 is like professional crazy good level, so I probably won't ever get there).

Anyway, Seth just woke up from a nap he was taking and I think we're going to watch some episodes of LOST (we're watching that series on DVD now).
